A few things to know before you share
Keep PrivacyGuard Share and your computer running until the download is finished.
Anyone with the complete link can open the shared folder while it is active, so send it only to people you trust.
Always check the folder before sharing. Stop the share when you’re done to turn the link off.
Technical security details
Files remain on the sender’s device until requested. Requested files then travel through the selected tunnel provider. Provider visibility differs: Tailscale Funnel terminates TLS on the sender’s Tailscale node, while Cloudflare Quick Tunnel terminates public TLS at Cloudflare’s edge.
Windows folder shares include a cryptographically random access key in the complete URL, and requests without that key are rejected. This is link-based access—not a password, recipient identity check, one-time link, or guarantee of privacy.
The local file server accepts tunnel traffic only on the sender’s loopback interface. Dotfiles and filesystem links are excluded and blocked. Windows does not currently add password protection. Availability is not guaranteed.
Tailscale Funnel
TLS terminates on the sender’s Tailscale node.
Tailscale documents that Funnel relays forward encrypted traffic without decrypting file contents. Tailscale still operates the relay and can process connection metadata. Funnel requires a Tailscale account and compatible tailnet configuration.
Cloudflare Quick Tunnel
TLS terminates at Cloudflare’s public edge.
Cloudflare can process connection metadata and content before forwarding requests through an encrypted outbound tunnel to the sender’s PC. Quick Tunnels require no account, but Cloudflare positions them for testing and provides no uptime guarantee.

Extract the downloaded ZIP, then run PrivacyGuardShare.exe. Keep the extracted files together; the bundled runtime does not require a separate Python installation.
Developers can also tunnel a running local development server.
